Jackson Oliver-Thomas Coombes
In case you hadn’t seen my most recent social media posts, I’m now the father of a perfect little boy.
I am so thrilled to be able to introduce Jackson Oliver-Thomas Coombes to the world.
Born at twenty minutes to midnight on Friday 17th May and weighing 9 pound 5 ounces, he’s a big chunk of handsome.
Francesca was incredible throughout the last nine months, but seeing her in labour really did have me believing in superheroes. After over 48 hours without sleep, she bought our beautiful boy into the world.
Seeing him open his eyes into the world for the first time is something I’ll never forget. All the worries I had in the hours leading up to his birth (what if something bad happens? What if I’m not good at being a Dad?) washed away in milliseconds as I held him for the first time.
I’m currently sat in the hospital room, both Frankie and Jackson sleeping, and I know that this is what I’m meant for. I have so many reasons to be the best man I can be for my son, and I honestly cannot express how truly happy I am at this moment in time. Parenting will be the steepest learning curve known to man, but we’ll navigate it together.
My little family will hopefully be home soon - Jackson is on an antibiotic IV drip for a little infection, while Frankie had to have a blood transfusion. Leaving them at the end of visiting hours makes me feel sick with sadness, but every time I come back I fall in love all over again. I truly am the luckiest man alive.
A huge thank you to our families, in particular Frankie’s mum who held both of us together throughout the labour and has been alternating shifts with me ever since! Jackson is so lucky to have such incredible family surrounding him.
So, first blog post in a while and probably my last for some time while I adjust to fatherhood.
For now, lots of love from myself, Francesca, Jackson, and of course, Loki.
